Ten Misheard Lyrics

Yes, it's childish, but misheard lyrics have ALWAYS made me laugh. What can I say? They're silly. I'm partial to silly, so on with the list!

Back when I was a teenager, we had cassette tapes. Really. Ask anyone who was around back then and they'll tell you how essential these things were, you borrowed your mates LP's and taped them. You taped the Top 40 off Radio One every week. Musically speaking, existence wasn't possible without them.
My point is, one of the manufacturers of tapes was Maxell - who changed the shape of British advertising by being FUNNY. The two links that follow are for British tv ads that had me howling with laughter and still do. Yes they're misheard lyrics!

Green Day. Love 'em. But check out Static Age... lyric video  because I swear during the chorus he sings "I can't see Billie in the video..." Maybe it's just me??

My Chemical Romance... well I did promise they'd make an appearance in every blog! These are my three favourite misheard lyrics from those lovely Jersey boys...

Drowning Lessons. This is a two for one! When Gee sings "and dressed in red and blue I screamed..." I ALWAYS hear "red and blue ice creams". Strangely, when he sings "as rice grains and roses fall at your feet" I hear "as ice creams and roses fall at your feet". An addiction to ice cream is possibly responsible for this, you decide - lyric video without ice cream here

House of Wolves. This little piece of hilarity comes courtesy of  @Rayne_MCRmy (if you're not following her, you damn well should be) who gave me permission to share with you the fact that, according to her brother, Gee does not, in fact, sing "Tell me I'm an angel" but instead sings "Tell me I'm a ninja"  I cannot express how much I wish this was real!! link to lyric video, ninjas optional

The third and final misheard MCR song appears in Honey, this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us and is one I was convinced I had not misheard. After repeated listening (and wearing out my copy of Bullets, I'm STILL convinced.
The lyric in the booklet says "And you can't keep my brother, and you won't fuck my friends"... but the lyric in the song (still convinced haha) says "and you can't keep my brother, and you won't fuck my Frank".
I will admit to being a freak when it comes to Gerard, Frank and the whole stage-gay thing, but seriously, go to 2:35 (I didn't need to look up that timing, oh dear me) and you'll see (or hear) what I mean!   lyric vid with bonus pretty pics :)

This next one isn't actually a misheard lyric, but rather a deliberately mis-sung lyric. We tend to do this a lot in my house, and I'm tempted to blog on the subject...
Anyway. The song is Last Resort by Papa Roach, the actual lyric is "Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort". The version sung in our house is "Cut my life into pizzas, this is my plastic fork"   It doesn't sounds remotely like Jacoby Shaddix sings that, it's just our preferred version. Boring version here.

Zero Percent. This isn't a misheard lyric.... but it should be. Hannah and I were convinced it was, after all why would Gerard Way write, let alone SING "I'm dressing up like a cat!"  or indeed "And turning into some rats!" !?!?  Mad Gear & Missile Kid... Gotta love 'em. awesome song with silly lyrics

For my final (and possibly favourite) misheard lyric I take you here BWAH AHA HAHAHA!  It's not so much the lyric, as the story the guy posted about it. Check it out - if you don't laugh you should probably see a doctor right away as you may be dead or a victim of some random sense-of-humour bypass.

Okay I make that ten, so I'm out of here - if you have any favourite misheard lyrics PLEASE comment and share them!

10 Songs I Love Right Now.

Yeah I started my first blog with an easy-peasy subject, sue me.

I say 'right now' because music, for me, (as it is for most people I expect) tends to reflect my mood at the time.
Which, happily, will give me the perfect excuse to re-blog the same subject at a later time when I've run out of '10 things'. Although that could be a while - I've thought of a dozen prospective subjects whilst setting up this blog. So. On with the list, in no particular order.

  1. Forget About It - All Time Low.  This should really be filed under guilty pleasures (blog in pipeline heh). It's poppy, it's punky, it's pop punk at it's bubbliest - it's so not me but daaamn I love it!   watch on youtube
  2. First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes.  Simplicity at it's best. A beautiful song & video that's emotional because it doesn't try to be.  watch on youtube
  3. Welcome To The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance. MCR will probably make an appearance in every blog I post, directly or obscurely. What can I say? Everyone needs an obsession. This song is my Desert Island Disc. I listen to it every day and I probably always will. If the video appears on tv I will drop everything (really) to watch it. There probably isn't another song like this in the history of music, it's sweeping and majestic, it tells an emotional story, you can headbang to it. What more could you want? here's the link!
  4. Cars And Calories - Saves The Day. Lol yes, it's the ipod song, as any mcr fan will tell you... but it's also an amazing song. The lyrics? Oh man, I could go on and on but I won't - what I will do is link the lyrics video on youtube (there isn't a 'proper' video anyway) lyrics video  you can see Gerard Way's infamous ipod dance here :)
  5. Snowblinded - Kill Hannah. When Mat Devine sings "I just wanted to say you're fucking beautiful..." my brain goes into meltdown. Clicky the clicky thing and check it out! clicky thing
  6. I Miss You - Blink 182.  Every now and again a band produce something totally out of their box. This song has the prettiest lyrics... and yes, Tom DeLonge does drop his H's but I've forgiven him.  I just wish there weren't spiders in the video (I close my eyes at that bit!  official video (with spiders) and lyric vid without spiders
  7. My Own Summer (Shove It) - Deftones. You know when you just need to break something? (or someone) That's what this song is for. I put it on, whack up the volume, and SCREAM. It's pure therapy :)  therapy linkage
  8. Hard To Say - The Used. I can't even say how much I love this song right now. I'm not going to try. It's pure and simple and Bert McCracken may just be a God. do your ears a favour and click here
  9. Give Me Novacaine - Green Day.  When I'm sad I put this on repeat and all the bad goes away... it usually takes about 4 or 5 plays. As is usual for me, it's the simplicity of the lyrics that has me hooked. The link has a live version with an awesome crowd sing-along... lovely live singalong version linkage
// blog interrupted by Bulletproof Heart live video on Kerrang TV ~swoons~ //

   10.  Affirmation - Savage Garden I've been listening to this song for years and it still
makes me smile. Also Darren Hayes sings high enough for me to join in. Be thankful
you can't hear it. Best line? Probably "I believe that beauty magazines promote low
self-esteem" but honestly? I agree with every damn word of this song.
lyric video, feel free to sing

So that's the first blog. Turns out this is fun, who knew? Comments are welcomed, criticism is probably vital! Let me know if I screwed anything up, ie linkage.

Next blog soon(ish),  possible subjects include pet peeves, guilty pleasures and things I do that I shouldn't.
